A new Urban Air Mobility (UAM) public and private partnership has been formed to educate and engage the Los Angeles residents about the new generation electric aircraft before their anticipated LA service start in 2023, reports a Linkedin press release.
This planned one year-long effort through the Mayor’s Office and the Los Angeles Department of Transportation (LADOT), to educate and engage the residents, will be financially supported by Hyundai, Urban Movement Labs (UML) and Estalano Advisors.
UML, for example, will lead efforts to help residents envision a vertiport, a projected brand new piece of the city’s transportation network where the public can access UAM craft. The partnership will culminate in “a policy toolkit”, to serve as a model to other cities, counties and local governments, while building capacity within the city of Los Angeles.
LA Mayor Eric Garcetti, commented, “Los Angeles is where we turn today’s ideas into tomorrow’s reality; a place where a barrier-breaking concept like urban air mobility can truly get off the ground.” Adding, “This UAM Partnership will make our city a force for cleaner skies, safer transportation, expanded prosperity and stunning innovation.”
